Martello Transport adds 25 Volvo FH Aero 460 tractors to its fleet

UK container haulier Martello Transport has acquired 25 Volvo FH Aero 460 6×2 tractor units. Volvo Trucks' release dated 29 October 2026 says they will operate between ports, distribution hubs and customer sites across the country. The development is a customer fleet investment rather than a launch of a new model.

Vehicles for domestic container operations

The Felixstowe-based company's approximately 90-vehicle fleet now includes around 70 Volvos, according to the announcement. Each new truck is expected to cover roughly 150,000 kilometres annually and remain in the fleet for at least four years. These figures describe intended use and retention, not distance already completed.

For high-mileage transport, maintenance planning and vehicle availability matter alongside fuel costs. A fleet delivery does not prove that the same model will achieve identical operating economics on different routes or with different loads. Actual results depend on the transport operation.

D13TC engine and I-Shift

The specified Euro VI-compliant D13TC Step E engine develops up to 460 hp and 2,600 Nm. It is paired with a 12-speed I-Shift automated transmission. I-See predictive cruise control and the Camera Monitoring System replacing conventional exterior mirrors are among the stated features.

Volvo describes visibility and aerodynamic benefits from the camera arrangement. However, the delivery announcement does not provide an independent fuel-consumption comparison or a measured percentage saving for this fleet. We therefore report the equipment without turning it into an unsupported numerical economy claim.

Service and fleet data support

The Globetrotter-cab tractors are backed by Volvo Gold Contract maintenance and repair support. Volvo Connect also allows the operator to monitor information including efficiency, driving behaviour and vehicle location. The investment illustrates a fleet decision involving ongoing operational support as well as the vehicles themselves.

29 October refers to the manufacturer's press release; individual delivery dates are not separately stated. The commercial arrangements concern this UK customer and should not be presented as standard Turkish pricing or service terms. Local buyers need to check the product and support conditions available in their own market.
